Just trawling through your website looking to get some info on Mick McDonnell, a distant relation of mine, and I came across this post from Nuala Woodman. I know it was 11 years ago but would you know how I could reply to her as membership on your site is now closed.

Hello,

Just came across your entry on Maud Gonne, regarding the allegations against John MacBride in the context of their divorce proceedings in France, these accusations are a really contentious and debatable rather than solid historical facts as you are presenting them, they get cut and pasted by history websites, but I think you need to see historian Anthony Jordans work on this topic or the recent MacBride biography,  its a pity that he is seen through the prism of Yeats poem as a ‘drunken vainglorious lout’ or worse,

Good afternoon

I hope you can help me. My name is Thomas (Tom) Ryan from Thurles and I am trying to find out about my father Jeremiah (Jerry Jack) Ryan who passed away when I was a year old so about 1945/6. I have never seen a photo of him so it would be nice to see one before I leave this world.

I think he was born in Holyford in about 1879 and married my mother Anastasia Agnes Teresa Dooley not sure when. My father was in the 3rd Brigade, West Tipperary IRA but apart from that I don’t know much more about him and hope you can help me.

Kind regards

Tom Ryan

I just came across a story by Hugh Keane that you published on June 23rd, 2013 – a long time ago I know.

I thought you might be interested in a song (Digger in Dublin) about one of the soldiers up on the roof of Trinity College on April 25, 1916.

I was fortunate enough to sing the song in front of Trinity college on 25 April 2016 when the Keogh family unveiled a plaque in Grafton St to their fallen ancestor

Hi,

I would like to find out where the Na Fianna membership records are located.

My late father was a member.

His parents were living in Drumcondra at the time.

I previously sent an email to Eamonn Murphy requesting information.

My father’s name was David McILVENNA (spelling may vary from this).

They lived on St. Columba’s Road in Drumcondra.

I would appreciate any help you can provide me with.

Keep Safe & Well.

Kind Regards,

Matthew (McILVENNA)
