IRA Volunteer Timothy Joseph Ryan
Hello,
We are hoping you can assist us, as we are trying to visit my grandfather’s grave who is buried in Cork. His name is Timothy Joseph Ryan born October 30th 1900 and died October 6th 1966.
We live in Australia and will be visiting Ireland in September this year and wish to visit his grave.
He was the first “Sergeant In Charge” at Ballyduff Garda Station and likely well known in the area.
We have scant information other than he was an IRA member and awarded by the Irish Government the “Cogaha Na Saoirse” medal and was buried in Cork. Tom Barry organised a firing party discharging a volley of shots over his coffin.
We have looked through the available records we can access online in the right timelines that being Matethy, Kilcully and Dunbullogue and are unable to locate his grave and there seems to be many cemeteries in Cork.
Is there a service we can pay for to assist us? or is there someone who can assist us please, and information or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi David
I did a bit of research. The date of death for TJ Ryan is incorrect. He died in Dublin on 2 Feb 1967.
He is buried at St Joseph’s cemetery in Cork as is his wife Agnes Patricia McKeon who died in 1953 in Cork.
Those records aren’t online but any of the workers or caretakers on site will point you to the grave.
